Virtual Planet Technologies was founded in 2018 in Santa Cruz, California, by Dr. Juliano Calil, who saw a gap between the science of climate risk and the way people actually experience it. Flood maps and emissions charts rarely change minds — standing inside a flooded version of your own street does
Since then, our team — scientists, storytellers, and developers — has built VR, 360° video, and web experiences for cities, universities, and conservation organizations across the country, including the City of Santa Cruz, The Nature Conservancy, Stanford University, and the City of West Palm Beach. Our work has been covered by Forbes, NPR, and the Wall Street Journal, and recognized at the AWE Auggie Awards.
We don't just visualize risk — we help communities turn that understanding into action.

At Virtual Planet Technologies, our mission is to combine data science, immersive storytelling, and community engagement to help cities, NGOs, and local governments adapt to a changing world. We translate complex climate projections into interactive, easy-to-understand experiences, transforming technical data into powerful tools for real-world action.
We envision a future where every community has the tools to visualize climate challenges before they arrive. By breaking down scientific jargon through state-of-the-art VR, AR, and web technologies, we aim to bridge the gap between science and human connection, fostering collective resilience and helping leaders shape a safer tomorrow.
