Virtual Planet is an immersive storytelling and climate communication studio that helps communities visualize and prepare for future environmental change. We combine scientific data, local expertise, and cinematic 3D environments to create interactive experiences that support informed decision-making.
We build virtual reality experiences, 360° videos, and interactive web experiences that help people see potential futures, such as sea-level rise, climate resilience, conservation and community planning scenarios.
Most of our experiences come with web, mobile, or video versions, so no special hardware is required,
your audience can access them easily from any phone or computer.
For in-person events like community workshops, we recommend VR experiences, which are highly engaging and support active,
immersive learning. We use the Meta Quest VR headsets.
Our projects are built in collaboration with scientists, planners, engineers, and local agencies. We incorporate real climate projections, GIS data, and engineering designs to ensure each scenario is grounded in best-available science.
Absolutely. Every project is customized to reflect real local conditions, topography, infrastructure, climate projections, and community priorities. We co-create the experience with you, considering every aspect of your message to ensure the final product is accurate, locally relevant, and meaningful to your community.
A typical project takes 2–6 months, depending on complexity, number of locations, depth of community engagement, and data availability.
Projects generally follow these phases:
1. Discovery – Understanding goals, audience, and data needs
2. Co-creation – Aligning story, visuals, and priorities
3. 3D Modeling & Scenario Development
4. Review & Iteration – Technical validation and community feedback
5. Launch & Engagement Tools – Web experience, VR tour, public event support workshops with stakeholders and community members
Cities, NGOs, planners, universities, and community groups—anyone working to improve climate communication and resilience.
