Connected Lands

Stories of Change and Resilience in Ramona and Barona

About the project

’Connected Lands: Stories of Change and Resilience in Ramona and Barona’ is a bilingual 360° VR experience produced by Virtual Planet in collaboration with the Barona Band of Mission Indians, Ramona Municipal Water District, Governor’s Office of Planning & Research – Land Use & Climate Innovation, and Rincon Consultants, Inc. The project blends Indigenous knowledge, lived experience, and climate science to explore the cascading impacts of heat, wildfire, and flooding across two connected communities.

By blending cinematic visuals with heartfelt, place-based storytelling, Connected Lands transcends traditional communication barriers - fostering connection across generations, cultures, and sectors. Designed as an educational and outreach tool, the experience is being shared with schools, community centers, and local leaders. Virtual Planet’s immersive storytelling transforms abstract climate data into emotional, place-based narratives that spark action. This is more than a film - it’s a new way of connecting people to each other, their environment, and a shared resilient future.
